Walking Closely With Jesus/Rashea@LLO2 Academy
What is your hearts desire? What does your life and soul long for? Daily... I desire to honor Jesus, to walk closer to Him.
I know Jesus is the way to eternal life, and I do want to go to New Jerusalem, when He calls me home. But while I am here... I want my life to honor Him. Jesus that's is.
The Apostle Paul spoke on living a life well pleasing to God in Romans 12:2. He was a man who lived a life of surrender, a man who spoke extensively on what is required of us as we live for Jesus. Moreover, the Apostle Paul was a man who spoke extensively on His love and own walk with Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
He so often referred to Jesus as the Son of God who atoned for the sins and failures of humanity. He, also, referred to Jesus as his Lord and Savior who atoned for his (Saul's, converted to the Apostle Paul's) own sins and failures as a zealous scholar and Pharisee in his former life now a Christian, an Apostle and close disciple of Jesus in His spiritual rebirth.
The Apostle Paul considered himself the least of all the Apostles but, yet, he was the most influential and most impactful Apostle out of them all.π It was the teachings of Jesus alive in Paul's ministry. We live in an upside down kingdom as some say. Humility and not piousness. The inverted concept where leaders serve and not just reign or rule.
In the kingdom of God, greatness is the act of service not delegation alone. Servant leadership, I was taught some years ago. Something that many leaders struggle with.
Helping others is not a weakness nor humiliation. Helping others is a strength and humility. It says a lot about a leaders character that sets out to help others and to be a team player on the front lines and, also, when others are not looking.
Helping others is, also, well pleasing to God. Jesus was always of help to those around Him. He took needed time to regroup and spend with God the Father, but He was always helping people throughout His ministry here on earth, and He is still in heaven helping those who need Him and call on Him... walking closely with Him each day.
After Jesus' ascension back to heaven... Jesus disciples still walked closely with Him through prayer, as we see in the Apostle Peter's life and walk with God. Walking closely with Jesus through times of prayer was how Peter received insight into the great awakening and revival amongst the Gentiles.
Cornelius and his family were one of the first Gentile families to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior and to be baptized with water and the Holy Spirit. All this happened, because Cornelius and Peter were walking close with Jesus, through times of prayer and devotion. Prayer unlocks revelation, divine impartation and intercession (Acts 10).
Walking closely with Jesus as a Christian becomes a yearning desire in our hearts, because Jesus changes the direction and desires of our hearts through times of prayer and devotion. Honoring God becomes a priority. Abstaining from sin, also, becomes a priority, because we long to honor God in our hearts and souls.
I guess you can say, walking closely with Jesus becomes a passion and not just an obligation. We are drawn to His presence. And it is in the presence of Jesus we are changed and our desire to walk with Jesus deepens.
