Keeping My Focus On Jesus Through Prayer; An Effective Prayer Life/ Rashea@LLO2 Academy
14 Is anyone among you sick? He should call in the church elders (the spiritual guides). And they should pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Lord’s name.
15 And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working]. -James 5
Jesus healed many people through prayer throughout his ministry from many infirmities. Many came to Jesus for healing and many were healed and made whole. The same power and authority that operated through Jesus operates through born again Christian's.
It is very important to be built up (possessing spiritual fortitude and faith and mental and emotional longevity) when praying for others who need healing. Operating in healing will draw spiritual virtue or power to function in the ministry of healing from your. So, it is important that we spend time in prayer regularly to rejuvenate our spirits, souls and bodies to recover our energy, focus and spiritual, mental and emotional stamina after moving in times of healing (Luke 7:11-17, 8:40-56, 13:10-13, 14:1-6; 17:11-19, 19:45-48).
When praying for others, be led of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes, the circumstances will require a simple prayer of faith and other times it will require an extended time of prayer. Our job is to pray and to believe, to plant and to water and allow God to bring the increase of the signs, miracles and wonders. Healing is divine. It is a spiritual happening that cures the root of the problem not just the symptoms.
There are times where medicine works, but then there are times where prayer through faith can only cure what medicine and doctors have failed to cure. There are times where we should incorporate medicine with prayer. Taking communion doesn't hurt either. Communion symbolizes the Lords atonement for us (1Corinthians 11). I suggest that when believing God for healing in areas of your life that you take communion as regular as you have to take medicine to cure a common cold.ππΎπ― God and science working hand in hand to cure at the root of the circumstances.
Sickness can range from the common cold to more serious conditions impacting the spirit, soul or body. It is God's will that we are healed and made whole. The most impactful way He does this is through prayer.
God gives us visions and dreams through prayer.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a word was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. And the word was true and it referred to great tribulation (conflict and wretchedness). And he understood the word and had understanding of the vision. -Daniel 10:1 (Read Chapter 10 in its entirety.)
God utilizes the heavenly agents and assistance of angels to reveal His Word and to combat demonic forces in spiritual warfare. Prayer and fasting releases and reveals divine revelation that is communicated to us through times of prayer. We have the power and authority to communicate with angels and to receive strength from them when we are wearied during spiritual warefare with demonic forces and encounters with heavenly angels who carry the glory of God upon them.
Through times of prayer we can ask God for clarity on the revelation that He is showing us through visions and dreams. Angels give in depth clarity into the things of God. They are mantled with the majesty of God's divine power to assist us in understanding things yet to happen.
God empowers us through times of prayer.
After they prayed, the place where they were gathered was shaken. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began speaking God’s word with confidence, freedom, boldness and courage. -Acts 4:31
39 And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed Him.
40 And when He came to the place, He said to them, Pray that you may not [at all] enter into temptation.
41 And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw and knelt down and prayed,
42 Saying, Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but [always] Yours be done.
43 And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven, strengthening Him in spirit. -Luke 22
1Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off. 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. -Acts 13
God teaches and guides us through times of prayer.
35 Early in the morning, well before sunrise, Jesus rose and went to a deserted place where he could be alone in prayer. 36 Simon and those with him tracked him down. 37 When they found him, they told him, “Everyone’s looking for you!”
38 He replied, “Let’s head in the other direction, to the nearby villages, so that I can preach there too. That’s why I’ve come.” 39 He traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and throwing out demons. -Mark 1
1 There was a man in Caesarea named Cornelius, a centurion in the Italian Company. 2 He and his whole household were pious, Gentile God-worshippers. He gave generously to those in need among the Jewish people and prayed to God constantly. 3 One day at nearly three o’clock in the afternoon, he clearly saw an angel from God in a vision. The angel came to him and said, “Cornelius!”
4 Startled, he stared at the angel and replied, “What is it, Lord?”
The angel said, “Your prayers and your compassionate acts are like a memorial offering to God. 5 Send messengers to Joppa at once and summon a certain Simon, the one known as Peter. 6 He is a guest of Simon the tanner, whose house is near the seacoast.” 7 When the angel who was speaking to him had gone, Cornelius summoned two of his household servants along with a pious soldier from his personal staff. 8 He explained everything to them, then sent them to Joppa. -Acts 10 (Read Acts 10 in its entirety.)
God teaches us how to pray through times of prayer.
1 One time Jesus was out praying, and when he finished, one of his followers said to him, “John taught his followers how to pray. Lord, teach us how to pray too.”
2 Jesus said to the followers, “This is how you should pray:
‘Father, we pray that your name will always be kept holy.
We pray that your kingdom will come.
3 Give us the food we need for each day.
4 Forgive our sins,
just as we forgive everyone who has done wrong to us.
And don’t let us be tempted.’” -Luke 11
26 At the same time the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we don’t know how to pray for what we need. But the Spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words. 27 The one who searches our hearts knows what the Spirit has in mind. The Spirit intercedes for God’s people the way God wants him to. -Romans 8
Prayer is pivotal in the life of a Christian. Prayer serves as a reliable and direct connection to God. Prayer is the current that leads to divine answers to earth's challenges.
Prayer is a mandate. Prayer steers our lives closer to Jesus. Prayer is the mandate that brings heaven to earth.
