Aligning My Life To God's Word... Holiness/Rashea@LLO2 Academy
And Moses said, "You shall be holy for the Lord your God is holy." -Leviticus 19:2
And the Apostle Peter said, "For it is written, you shall be holy, for I (the Lord) am holy." -1Peter 1:16
So if holiness is referred to both in the Old and New Testaments, is it not yet impeccable?
If God is referred to as holy in both the Old and New Testaments, and we are given the commandment to be holy as God is holy, is it imperative for us to be holy as God is holy in today's day and time?
Does God change?
Can a zebra change its spots?
Some things are just what they are. The holiness of God is the essence of His character revealed to mankind. The holiness of God is righteousness.
The holiness of God is right. The holiness of God is truth. To omit the holiness of God is to omit what is right and what is true.
When Moses and the Apostle Peter said, "Be holy as God is holy," they were saying, Be right. Be true as God is right and true. Walk as God walks. Talk as He talks. Think as He thinks.
3d... For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says they Lord. -Isaiah 55:8
4d... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.
-Isaiah 55:9
Higher! Higher! Higher!
.Walk higher!
.Think higher!
.Believe higher!
.Speak higher!
.Live higher!
Walk, think, believe, speak and live right. Walk, think, believe, speak and live in truth. Bear the truth. Tell the truth. Walk in the pathway of truth.
The Bible says, "Therefore be a prototype of God [copy Him and follow Him], as well beloved children imitate their father," (Ephesians 5:1). Jesus is the image of the Father. Jesus has revealed to us the character and nature of God by how He lived among humanity.
He was eternal divinity in the likeness of humanity. Bearing the same human circumstances we do, He lived a life devoted to God and holiness. Was he a nun or monk?
No. Jesus (Joshua/Savior) was the Christ, the Savior of the world. Jesus did not isolate Himself from the world. He was a beaming light aglow shining brightly with the nature of God the Father within Him.
Jesus demonstrated the holiness of God in His actions, thoughts, conversations, decisions and even in His silence from time to time. God wants us to be holy as He is holy in our actions, thoughts, emotions, beliefs, communication, spirits, souls and bodies, because the Holy Spirit dwells within us Who is holy as God is holy. When we walk in the character of God... people see God in us and working through us.
Living holy before God through the atonement of Jesus and the power and work of the Holy Spirit within us, requires us to move away from, abandon the practices of blatant sin that offends the sovereignty and holiness of God. "Be not unequally yoke with unbelievers. Come out from among them and be separate," says the Lord (2Corinthians 6:14-19).
In this passage of Scripture, God is not telling us that we cannot be cordial or friends with sinners, because Jesus himself was a friend to many sinners [unbelievers that had not yet received salvation] (Matthew 9:9-13). The Bible, through the Apostle Paul, is instructing believers not to subject themselves to the habitual practices of sin. He was wasn't just pointing out unbelievers but also Christian's who yet practice sinful behavior.π How can two people walk together unless there is unity and sameness of heart and mind (Amos 3:3)?
A house or people divided will always breed and brew contention and strife. A house divided will fall (Matthew 12:25; Mark 3:24-25). Get on the same page. If you are not going the same way in your lifestyle and mission, it is wise to separate and go your own way. This is Bible basics 1 on 1.
Holiness requires a daily lifesyle of refreshing our minds and hearts with the Word of God. We must be cleansed with God's Word everyday. 24/7. The Bible instructs us to meditate in and on God's Word day and night. Make time for God.
Aligning our lives to God's Word is the mindset, heart inclination (belief, active faith) and the act of practicing the nature of God (Romans 12:1-2). Holiness requires a continual commitment to God in all areas of our lives (1Corinthians 6:12-20, 10:13-14 & 23; 1Thessalonians 3:13, 4:1-8, 5:22). God desires to sanctify us wholly as holy unto Himself for His service (Ezekiel 36:23-27; Romans 6:13-19).
Spiritual consecration is the atoning and washing of our hearts, minds and spirits through regeneration. Consecration communicates we belong to God in all areas of our lives and how we live our lives in public and in private. God is no respecter of persons. Walking in the character and nature of God is required by all. Now the degree and approach of how we carry out this commandment may differ from person to person because of our experiences, upbringing, assignments and personality types.
Nope. I am not here to lecture anyone. Just sharing a overview of my own daily journey with Jesus. Everyday God is changing me, refining me and challenging me to become more like Him in all aspects of my life.
I never said that serving Jesus was always an easy task. However, it is easier to serve Jesus when we want to love and honor Him from our hearts. Christianity isn't boring or rigid. It is actually a very good life!π
I like being a Christian more than I liked being without Christ. It's just more peaceful over here in this life. Loving Jesus is a blessing and not a burden.
Living holy is not religion as some doctrines and denominations have taught and preached us. Living holy is daily being like Jesus. Living holy is allowing Jesus to shine through our lives and personalities. Living holy is a life that is surrendered to Jesus.
To align our lives to the nature of God communicates that we love God and pleasing Him is important to us. To love God is to obey Him. To obey Him is to please Him.
