Can you be transparent with your team?
Yes or no.
If you cannot be transparent with your team because of character issues within your team, you have a problem.
Can you develop your teams character? Yes! However, your team has to be willing to individually grow and develop their character.
Steps to Take When Assessing and Resolving Character Insubordination
.Start by holding people responsible for the code of ethics and level of professionalism that is required of them as a leader and colleague.
.If individuals, resist the protocols, you may have to have a talk with them and develop a character growth chart.
.If that doesn't work, write up some written warnings concerning their resistance to growing their character and their lack of professionalism.
.If that still doesn't work, you might have to suspend them or let them go.
Never allow a team member to make you feel that you cannot do anything about their insubordinate behavior and attitude. Stand by your policies, get the right people in power behind you and carry out your protocols for the sake of the morale on the job and your vision for the organization or corporation. Don't cope with insubordinate leaders. Resolve the insubordinate behavior immediately, and continue building your team forward!
When individuals do take the initiative to grow in their character:
.Recognize it.
.Acknowledge the turn around.
.Reward them for their efforts.
Being honest and transparent overall:
a. minimizes trust.
b. maximizes trust.
c. hinders the growth of the team.

A lack of transparency and honesty can cause leaders to question the integrity of other leaders on the team?

Leaders, do not ask your team and leadership to be honest only to turn around and scrutinize or penalize them for their honesty. This defeats the purpose of building community, unity and the open door policies put in place. We all have strengths and weaknesses. Be gracious and understanding as we all grow forward.
Guided Prayer for Transparency and honesty in the Marketplace and Leadership...
As a leader, help me to be transparent and honest with those on my team and within my community. Help me not to withhold valuable information or benefits from those on my team. Help me not to be selfish but rather team oriented. Let those on the team and within the community improve and be more productive because of my transparency and integrity. Let a daily practice of open and honest communication be developed and implemented. Help me to practice the transparency model of Jesus concerning leadership. Help me to develop my character and, also, the character of the team as a leader by holding myself and others responsible for their character and conduct. Don't allow me to show partiality or be intimidated by people who resist being accountable for their growth in their character as a leader and team member. Help me to locate areas where there has been a lack of transparency, integrity and productivity on the team. Help me to make the necessary adjustments immediately, in Jesus name. Amen.
