Kingdom Leadership 2024- The Transparency of Kingdom Leaders In Leadership/ Rashea@LLO2 Academy- Leadership Edition
Marketplace and Leadership Transparency
Is it okay to be transparent in the marketplace? Is it okay to be transparent in leadership? Absolutely!
Let me ask you this. Are you transparent outside the marketplace? Of course you are! Most of us are.
I recommend that ALL leaders who are leading teams be open and honesty with their teams. Yes, utilize wisdom and discretion in all matters, but be honest.
The Transparency Model
The key to transparency is the model Jesus followed when he was transparent with the people around Him.
The Transparency Model of Jesus:
.The crowd. (Communication of protocols and procedures of the Kingdom of God).
.The seventy. (Delegating Kingdom tasks and duties).
.The twelve apostles. (Your inner circle. Those who are designated leaders and colleagues you mutually consider close to you. They are communicated to and taught more in depth. They see what the 70 (employees) and crowds (consumers) don't see. They are brought along side you to help carry out the vision).
.The three friends. (The three friends are considered your Peter, James and John. They are your closest friends or colleagues. You share things with them more in depth. They see your fears, tears, anguish, secrets, glory and things that the other 9 friends or colleagues cannot handle to see). You trust them with your life so to speak.
.The one friend. (John was Jesus best friend. He was known as the one that Jesus loved. That means Jesus commuicated to John other things that was not shared with the other disciples, because he proved that he could be trusted on a deeper level than all the rest. John wrote the Book of Revelation. John not only saw Jesus after his resurrection but after His ascension into heaven in the Book of Revelation. John never wrote about the transfiguration of Jesus on the mount, while the other disciples did. Jesus told them not to tell anyone about the transfiguration, and John never did record it in his writings.ππΎπ―).
When you follow this model, you may have challenges from time to time as you lead others, but the challenges won't be as many in comparison to if you did not follow the transparency of the Jesus model in leadership.
Now, don't get me wrong. You will always have critics who will scrutinize everything you say and do. Jesus had that too. However, that's not a leadership issue. That's a character issue on their part.
Don't allow the murmuring and complaining of people stop you from being an open and honest leader. You will find that many in your team will appreciate your transparency. You will also find that when you are honest with your team, they well be honest with you.
Why Be Honest?
Be honest. No one likes finding out they were lied to. Lying and finding out you were lied to minimizes trust. The key is to maximize trust.
How do you maximize trust? Honesty. Transparency is integrity. Transparency is honesty. Transparency is knowing that I can trust you to tell me or the team the truth.
Transparency is you clearing the air. Transparency is allowing your team to see that you are human too, and being a leader doesn't mean you are exempt from being human and facing challenges just like them.
Can people trust your word? Can people trust what you are saying is true? The more you lie and withhold the truth, the more the trust level is minimized. The more you tell the true and communicate openly and honestly, the more the trust level is maximized.
How you handle challenges and navigate through being human as a leader is what really matters. Don't just have productive numbers and sales. Don't just be proficient and proactive in the area of work related effectiveness and efficiency. Have solid communication that is foundated on integrity and transparency.
Strong and healthy community in leadership is the result of integrity, solid communication and transparency. I am not encouraging you to share all your business with everyone, but what I am encouraging you to do is to be honest. Too many leaders have the stats and the stature, but lack transparency, integrity and good character.
How do you get to know your leaders? Transparency. How do your leaders get to know you? Transparency. As you lead people, your growth, goals and priorities have to be built on building a healthy organization and community that is foundated on healthy communication and transparency.
If people that you lead cannot respect your honesty and integrity, it's time to find a workspace and organization that does. Being honest has become an initiative to hurt people, when being honest in the workplace was created to help solve problems, build community and advance the vision and organization. We have to get back to honoring the value of transparency in the workplace and in leadership.
