Samantha... Growing Up Christian/ Choosing Good Friends (Session 7... Teen Addition)-Rashea@LLO2 Academy

I have met so many people over the course of my life. Children grow up.

We change. Life changes. Things change.

Sometimes we grow together. Sometimes we grow apart. Sometimes, life pulls us apart, only to bring us back together years later.

Sometimes we stay. And other times, families move away. It's funny how friendships work.

I come across so many people. I have interacted with many people in school, at church, in my family and even in my community. But I realize not everyone is meant to be my friend.

So, who do I really call my friends? The cool kids who are up on the latest trends but have no idea what their purpose is in life?

The smart kids who are always in their books and participating in extra curricular activities at school?

The church kids who love God but rarely connect with people outside of the church?

Or do I connect with friends who are cool, smart, go to church but, also, have friends who are open to God but not yet Christian's?

So many decisions. I need guidance. Every season of my life has called for an analysis and for adjustments concerning my friendships and connections.

There are great and not so great people in all these categories. I am learning to grow in my friendships and with my friends, even if that means embracing a time of cultivation or departure. Growing in friendships means your friends are an asset. You help me grow my potential and flourish in my purpose, and I do the same for you.

Are the people that I am hanging with adding value to me?πŸ€”πŸ’ Hmm... Are they challenging me to grow or stay complacent?

Are my friends productive? Are they supportive? Or do they block my dreams?

Are they encouraging me to reach for the stars? Or are they descending to the abyss and the black hole of not knowing who they are or what they want out of life?

The Bible says, "Good friends stick close to you, and they have your back like family."

It, also, says, "Bad friends pull you down."

So... growing in good friendships is about character above all. Hmm...πŸ€”πŸ’. Good friends with good character. This I will choose.
