The Supremacy of Embodied and Empowered Christian's
Jesus said to His disciples, 18 "I Myself saw and witnessed Satan fall from heaven, into the earth then into the abyss like lightening. 19 Look intently and recognize that I have given you glory and government to trample upon serpents and scorpions. Yes, I have given you physical, mental and spiritual glory and government over all the government that the enemy possesses, and nothing by any means shall harm you or overtake you (Luke 10:18-19."
Jesus was not denying that Satan had power. Jesus openly acknowledged that Satan has power, but satan is not authorized to hold onto, hold down or oppress humanity without eternal relief from Jesus. Jesus is superior to all the works and bondage of the devil.
Jesus recognized the overthrowing of Satan's dominion and rebellion in heaven. This occurrence then allows Jesus to then empower and authorize His disciples to have glory and government over Satan on earth. Jesus did not wait until after His resurrection to give glory and government to His disciples. The disciples actively functioned in glory and government while disciples and apostles under Jesus' earthly ministry (Matthew 19; Mark 3:13-15; Luke 10).
We must see and we must understand what our posture and position over Satan and our enemies is. Our posture and position is victory and dominion. We through Jesus are empowered and authorized to actively walk in victory and dominion over Satan and to dominate, overrule and overthrow all the works of the devil.
It is unwise to operate in ministry in any arena or field without the empowerment and authorization of the Holy Spirit working within you. The Holy Spirit protects us from the onslaught of the devil as we go forth in ministry in the name of Jesus. The Holy Spirit, empowers us with godly wisdom and might as we demostrate the Kingdom of God.
And Jesus said to His disciples, "But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You shall go forth and be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth." -Acts 1:8
All Christian's are sealed by the Holy Spirit at the conception of salvation through faith in Jesus. However, not all Christian's are empowered by the Holy Spirit after receiving salvation through faith in Jesus. When Jesus ascended into heaven there were over 500 disciples present, but on the day of Pentecost only 120 of those 500 disciples were filled.ππ
So, although the empowerment of the Holy Spirit is available to all Christian's not all will walk in power and authority through the Holy Spirit. What is the determining factor? The power of choice.
The Holy Spirit will not thrust His power on you. You must believe and tarry in obedience and submission in the presence of God to receive His power. Many received the instructions to stay in Jerusalem until the gift of God came, but not all remained to receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4).
Who will stay? Who will go? Were those who had left the upper room any less a Christian? No. However, their effectiveness as Christian's were limited, because they were not empowered by the Holy Spirit.
People could see the glory of God on the lives of Christian's who had not yet received the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. However, their purpose in life lacked supernatural mobility to demonstrate and to manifest the Kingdom of God in comparison to those who were empowered by the Holy Spirit. Glory without government.ππ
Don't stop at the glory. Get the government. Be empowered!
