Emotionally Healthy Spirituality with Peter Scazzero... Defeating the External Enemies of Your Emotional, Spiritual & Physical Well-being Challengeto Change/ Rashea@LLO2 Academy

To feel is to be human. To minimize or deny what we feel is a distortion of what it means to be image bearers of our personal God. -Peter Scazzero

What are your feelings right now?

Are these feelings positive or negative?

Are these feelings momentary or are they repetitive and lingering?

If your feelings are negative and repetitive, it is important to find out the cause and the effect. Negative emotions can cause harm, if they're not resolved in a healthy way. Seek to discover the truth, pray about your feelings and, then, seek to speak with someone who can help you or seek the right mentorship for you.

Understand that negative emotions that are hurtful are not from God. They are from the devil. So, if God is good then why does He allow me to feel this way?

Well, we live in a fallen world of good and evil. God is on sight to help us, but we must ask Him for help. God does not force His way into anyone's life or circumstances that doesn't voluntarily want Him there.

Cause and Effect:

Are your emotions overwhelming your ability to concentrate or are they centering you? If so, why and how?

Where are these emotions stemming from? Is there an internal source or external source of influence and distribution?

Practice the solution:

Seek clarity and center through deep breathing and healthy thoughts. Discern if the source is internal or external.

Locating the root cause:

Pin point what initially made you feel this way.

What does John 10:10 & 14:26 say about your feelings?

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

Practice the Solution:

Mentally move your thoughts to a state of positivity until your emotions align.

Discovering the root cause:

Have you felt this way in the past? Yes or no.

________________.

Can you date back to when you initially started having these emotions?

_________________________________________________________________________________.

If you can, you have found the source. Reoccurrences of the same emotions whether positive or negative are trigger points, but they are not the source.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

Practice the Solution:

External sources can agitate existing emotional imbalance due to unresolved trauma. Navigate away from external sources that are triggering unhealthy emotions within you.

Once you find the root cause and have successfully healed from traumatic emotional imbalance, defend yourself from any attacks that can cause a relapse of any kind. When the devil knows you are healed, he will send attacks your way to cause you to regress back into a state of emotional imbalance.

Cause and Effect

What attacks are being used to create these negative or positive? What emotions are you feeling? What thoughts are running through your mind?

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________.

Resolve the problem:

Become proactive. The Bible says, "Cast down and bring into subjection all thoughts and even emotions that raise an argument refuting the Word of God (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)." Replace every negative thought or emotion with a positive thought or emotion.

It is important to locate the root cause of emotional imbalance. That is the only way to break free and stay free from adverse trauma. Surrender all your emotional adversity to God and be well.
