Is the Right Way Really Hard?

Let me just say this, life itself can be difficult. However, not always difficult. Life can, also be pleasant.

People have this stigma built into their minds that Christianity and doing what's right is hard. But after being a Christian for well over 20 years, I can tell you that being a Christian is a really good life. What people don't like to admit is everyone, whether they are a Christian or non-Christian, are facing challenges to some degree. Am I right or wrong?

Christianity will save your soul. That's the epiphany! That's the big picture. That's the sum of the gospel of grace and faith in Jesus.

Let's go deeper into this analogy that doing what is right is hard. What is hard? What does it mean?

Okay, maybe doing what's right is difficult, because it requires thinking through your thoughts and decisions before you take action. Maybe doing what is right is complicated, because it requires self-control rather than indulgence and careless behavior.  Maybe doing what is right is stressful, because it requires maturity.

Maybe just maybe, doing what's right is hard,  because no one really took the time to counsel you in the area of making it a habit of doing what's right. Am I right or wrong? What we fail to learn and understand stunts our growth and lives.

Maybe, doing what's right was what you heard all your life, but you chose not to listen. Maybe you grew up believing and thinking that your way was right, when in reality, it always led you to trouble later down the road. When we accept sound advice, we can improve our lives and ourselves. Am I right or wrong?

Discipline doesn't just refer to correction or chastisement. Discipline, also, refers to self-control, tempered behavior, self-resistance, restraint, or simply saying no to what will set you back or harm you in the long run.

Once you build the mental, emotional and physical fortitude to do what's right, then doing it will be easy and manageable. Let me say this. Having spiritual discipline helps, too. Seeking God and asking Him to strengthen your ability to do what's right is helpful and necessary.

Doing what's wrong may feel good and even appear to lead to success and a good life. However, the Bible makes it clear that careless behavior eventually leads to misfortune and an unhappy life. We've all been a prodigy of the prodigal son at one time or another. But what came of his life eventually? That's right. Misfortune and unhappiness were the outcome.

You don't want that outcome do you? Then start thinking differently. Start thinking that making good decisions is best.

You can change your life. Well, God can change your life, but you have to do your part, too. Say it with me, "Doing what's right is best." Now get started and do what you just said.
