Knowing When to Lead With Your Heart & When to Lead With Your Head

It's not a bad thing to lead with your heart. Moreover, it's not a bad practice to lead with your head. You just have to know when to lead with your heart and when to lead with your head.

It's not wrong to be a compassionate leader. Those following your leadership need that from time to time. They need to know that you care about them and for them.

They need to know that when they're having a hard day, that you'll be gracious enough to not ride their coat tail. Your team needs to know that you have their back. When challenges arise, you're right there helping them, guiding them, and cheering them on to the finish line.

Emotions can be great when utilized in the right settings with balance. Our emotions show that as leaders we are human too. However, although God wants us to be compassionate and to have an empathetic approach as leaders, He doesn't want us to be overly emotional or empathetic to our ruin or to others.

Being overly compassionate and passive gives insensitive and antagonistic individuals the advantage over you. It demonstrates signs of weakness. Weaknesses give antagonistic people the leverage to manipulate you and situations.

AVOID THIS DOWNFALL IN LEADERSHIP. ⚠️⛔️πŸ™…‍♀️πŸ™…

When dealing with emotional and antagonistic people, use your head. When dealing with manipulators, use your head. When you need to make tough, yet wise decisions, use your head.

Yes, be morally supportive, but, also, be wise. Utilize the right information to navigate through decisions when encountering  difficult people, processes, and situations. Your head (mind) will guide your emotions and keep them centered and in check as you decide what's the right approach to getting the right results in circumstances and situations.

Don't let knowledge go to your head though. Knowledge alone can be misleading. Some decisions in leadership and even in life require both your heart and your head.

Having compassion in certain circumstances and situations will empower you to make wiser decisions. Wise decisions bring peace, clarity and comfort not just answers to problems. Great leaders and good leaders, let God lead them with His head and heart.

The Bible says, "Lean not to your own preferences, opinions, thoughts, traditions, or ways of doing things. In all your efforts and decisions, acknowledge God. As you seek Him for guidance, He will guide your pathway, plans and progress." (Proverbs 3:5-6).

It's okay to be a head leader with a heart. Moreover, it's okay to be a compassionate leader who knows when to use their head and how to apply knowledge. When you learn how to balance these two characteristics and components, you will see results that improve your leadership and your teams effectiveness, efficiency, efforts, and experiences.
