The Call of A Disciple


What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?

Discipleship is to follow one's guidance, teachings, and character. Sometimes, discipleship requires leaving something or someone to become your best self. The Bible says that many of Jesus' disciples immediately left behind something in order to gain something.

What are you holding onto? What is God asking you to leave behind in order to gain what He has for you? The Bible reveals that many of Jesus' disciples followed Him without hesitation or procrastination. 

Those that were hesitant to follow Jesus were often asked not to follow Him. People who had shown double-mindedness would only become a stumbling block to the mission and purpose of Jesus. Jesus' intentionally called those that He could count on.

Jesus knew that reforming their mindsets would take some time and teaching. However, with some time and teaching, He knew that they would learn a new way of life, a better way thinking and how to handle daily challenges. Jesus, also, knew that their purpose would bloom with some 1 on 1 discipleship.

So this is discipleship. Discipleship is:

Here's a little Bible study for you in your free time. Search the Scriptures. Write down a Scripture for each of these words describing what it means to be a disciple. 

Discipline

Sonship

Courage 

Intentionality 

Progression 

Love

Eternity

Mandatory or Optional? Is building good habits mandatory or optional? Well, if you really want to improve as a leader, building good habits is mandatory.
