Being A Leader/Rashea@LLO2 Academy

Are you born a leader?

Well. We all in some capacity are leaders. Some people discover their leadership abilities early on in life and some of us grow into being a leader over time.

Some people are natural born leaders. Other people develop their leadership abilities over a span of time through knowledge, experience and hard work. However, I have seen it with my own eyes. Some people that grow into their leadership abilities outlast those whom leadership comes easier for.

And why is that? I believe those who grow into their leadership abilities sometimes outlast those whom leadership comes easier for, because they know the endurance and fortitude it takes to get to that level of leadership. Their approach is to appreciate through perseverance so that they don't depreciate in altitude up the ladder of success and linearly in their impact and reach to others by growing complacent.

One thing all leaders have in common is: Listening, learning, maturity & experience. It doesn't matter how long you have been a leader. All of these characteristics keep all leaders fundamentally sound and progressing in the right direction when applied.

I personally was not a naturally born leader. Over the course of time, I grew into my shoes as a leader on the front lines of leadership. I was like Jonah... Not me Lord.πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ™ƒ.

I did not think that I was capable of leading on the level of leadership I saw others around me leading on. Leadership was for the confident. The big boys. So I thought.

Many years ago... I... was not confident as a person or a leader. I felt overlooked and unqualified. Yes. I was smart to some degree and I always had a love for learning, but I battled insecurities about my capacity of leading well.

Either others out performed me or others purposely stood in the way of me shining bright on the stage of leadership and success. I began to realize early on in life that jealous people who fear your level of potential and competence will purposely bully you and stand in the way of your purpose and success. I had to learn to stand my ground and not back down no matter what. People don't play fair, even when you do.πŸ‘€πŸ™ƒ

In my 20's and 30's... I was introduced to leadership and was surrounded by top tier leaders in ministry and the marketplace. I went through numerous leadership intensives, activation classes & meetings. I started reading books on leadership and how to become a good leader.

Experience played a HUGE role. After the intensives and the activation courses, I had to apply the many lessons. I learned to teach what I had already overcome not just from  Bible verses or book knowledge alone.πŸ‘€

I saw many leaders teach straight from head knowledge alone and get their behinds whipped when the challenges of life came knocking.πŸ‘€ Some never fully recovered. Some never made it back.πŸ‘€ Let that sink in.

But over the course of time with God, time experience, the right knowledge and much prayer... I could not see my life without leadership or without being a leader. Although I wasn't a naturally born leader early on in leadership... I could not see my life any other way. The truth is... after 20 years of being a leader... It's a big part of who I am.

Don't get me wrong. Leadership has its challenges, but I was born for this. I just did not know it many years ago.πŸ‘€πŸ™ƒ Just say yes, and God will do the rest.
