What is athletics without discipline? To become your best you must practice discipline. To improve yourself you must be disciplined.
What is discipline? Discipline is self control. Discipline is to be tempered mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually in order to grow and to develop in order to achieve a goal, dream, mission or vision.
Without discipline you cannot maintain prosperity and good success. Discipline is the ability to train your will to say yes or to say no at the proper time in various circumstances, challenges and/or occurrences. Discipline is your ability to stop, to slow down & to proceed with caution or to go forward when instructed or directed to guided from within.
What is athletics without understanding? Wisdom is the result of understanding. Comprehension is the ability and capacity to grasp revelation and right knowledge.
Understanding is the ability to decipher between the right information and the wrong information. To grasp and to heed the wrong information can lead to misdirection and the wrong results. To grasp and to heed the right information can lead to blessings, promotion and the right results according to the Book of Proverbs.
Do you have an understanding of what you are learning? If not, ask the right questions to get a deeper understanding. Sometimes understanding is taught verbally and other times it's taught hands on. The way you grasp an understanding depends on the person, preferences, setting and situation.
Do not act as if you know what to do, and then do something blindly.π Get an understanding. The Bible says, "In all your obtaining, get an understanding."
Don't guess. If you don't know, ask. Pay attention! Learn whatever it is you need to know to be your best self and to complete your tasks with excellence.
What is athletics without character? Proverbs says, "Your gift will make room for you and bring you before great people." I would like to add this life principle. It is your character that will either promote you or demote you.π
How is your character? Your thoughts and behavior define your character as a person on and off the field or court of sports and life. People know you by your character, good or bad.
Have you every heard someone say about someone, "Yeah, they are good at what they do, but their character is terrible." We all have. That's a character flaw, and flaws can be fixed when you work at them.
Your character should compliment your gifts and your talents. They should align and balance one another. Watch out for people who are talented or gifted but have bad character. They are sure to fall eventually.
Want to strengthen your character? Get around people that have good character. "Iron sharpens iron." We become like those we hang around the most, depending on who has the strongest influence in that area.
What is athletics without the right knowledge? Think about it. Athletics is part skill and part knowledge.
When you are in the film room, you are watching and learning how to become more skillful and impactful at your craft and position to win, to defend and to communicate verbally and through movement.
If you do not learn how to be better at your role, you cannot become your best or do your best. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is positioning you to win on and off the court or field.
Right knowledge is the key component to a healthy team. What are you communicating to your team and yourself?π Right knowledge is part revelation and part information.
Revelation and information combined will enable you as an individual and as a team. Also, get the proper formation. Stay informed on how things are changing. Then reform the methods to get the best results possible. Communicate the right information and reconfigure and refresh your team and yourself.
People think that athletics is about skill alone, but if you do not have discipline, understanding, character and knowledge... YOU WILL NOT DOMINATE. Build your spiritual, mental and emotional fortitude not just your physical physique and endurance. What people fail to realize is discipline, understanding, character and knowledge impacts their physical health and endurance.
If you lack discipline, understanding, character and/or knowledge... It will show through your physical wellbeing on and off the field or court. D.U.C.K. is the key component to dominating as an athlete and as a person. Follow these practical principles and watch your life and performance level propel in sports and in life.
