Kingdom Fitness 2024 Edition/Life at 40 and Beyond... Balancing Character and Commitment
Well. Character and Commitment. Commitment and Character.
Valid traits. Valid topics. Valid parts to building a good life, a healthy personality, healthy relationships with others and a healthy name.
Good character builds and strengthens commitment. Healthy commitments are the fine tuning of good character. Good charater and healthy commitments are built through healthy and solid communication, good decisions and self-discipline.
These are things I learned over time and continue to build, sharpen and polish as I live life in my 40's. It's a daily discipline. The practice of building good character and healthy commitments is a thought practice that builds healthy thoughts patterns that empowers me to be mindful of my character and commitments.
Seasons change and stages change, but my character and commitments must continue to remain steadfast in flexibility, responsibility and dependability. No matter what season or stage of life I am in, can I honestly say that I am flexible, responsible and dependable? I must daily groom my character and commitments around these three characteristics- flexibility, responsibility and dependability.
I am not implying that we are to remain flexible, take responsibility or be dependable to seasons and stages that have changed or are changing. That makes no sense to do that. That's a waste of time, effort, energy and attention. However, I am implying that flexibility, responsibility and dependability are necessary for the seasons and stages of life we are in now.
Life in my 40's requires me to have a creative spirit and a mature yet flexible approach to the ebs and flows of the seasons and stages of life I am in right now. I can utilize my experiences and skills gained over the course of time to help me navigate through life as it is right now, but I, also, must willingly yield to gaining new knowledge, grasp a new understanding and cultivate fresh wisdom and perspective for life in my 40's.
Learning and knowing what it takes to have good charater and to have healthy commitments requires that I now apply the things that I know and have learned to be successful in those areas. Application. Persistence. Patience.
Ministry. Life. Work. Relationships. Children. They all have helped me to practice being intentional, persistent and patient with myself and others.
And God says, "Am I not patient with you?"ππ Wow.π Um... yes.ππ€£
Like a good parent Jesus is there.π€£π Oh my gosh.
But He is. Even at 42 God is still like a good parent that pushes His children to be their very best. More like a mentor, but still a parent.
No matter how old we get, we still need encouragement, training and a good mentor or coach in our corner. "Build good character. Stay committed."
Yes, Lord. Committed to building the character that can unlock new opportunities for growth and blessings. Committed to the nutritional plan that God gave me to look better, feel better and live a healthy life with longevity.
It will shock you at how much progress you can make when you commit to good character and healthy commitments. I know I am in shock.π€£π It did not happen overnight thoughts. Some days were a bit more challenging than others days. There are days that I had to be the coach, the trainer, the teacher and my own cheering squad,ππ€£ but you have to be those things sometimes to see the results that God promised you.
Even when life is rolling and challenges occur along the way, quiet disciplines are kept and progress is being made, with God's help. I am in awe. There are progressions that are being made that I haven't seen in almost 18 years.ππ You cannot tell me when you remain flexible, responsible and dependable that God and life cannot reward you with quiet progress and success.
So, even when people, circumstances and life tell me that building good character and having healthy commitments is a waste of time, I am FULLY convinced that they're not. Just keep at the very things that people, circumstances and life told you were a waste of time. What you do and build in quiet moments, seasons and stages of your life will bless your life and show publicly.
