Emotionally Healthy Spirituality with Peter Scazzero... Defeating the External Enemies of Your Emotional, Spiritual & Physical Well-being/ Rashea@LLO2 Academy

To feel is to be human. To minimize or deny what we feel is a distortion of what it means to be image bearers of our personal God. -Peter Scazzero

To feel is to be human. However, if your feelings are leading to stress, anxiety, jealousy, resentment, depression anxiousness, fear, low self-esteem, anger or violence that's not God's will nor is feeling like that from God.

It's from the devil. Satan deceives many people into believing that God is causing their suffering, but He's not. The Bible only reveals one man that God sent a spirit of torment to and that was King Saul.

King Saul was given over to his ongoing rebellion. He did not want to listen to God. God tried various times to reason with King Saul through the Prophet Samuel, but he refused. So, God eventually gave him over to a tormenting spirit until the day of his departure from the earth.

Locate: We must ask ourselves when dealing with emotional imbalance, "Why are these emotions here?"

Cause and Effect: Are these emotions overwhelming my ability to focus and think clearly? Are these emotions caused by an external source?

Solution: Seek clarity and center through deep breathing and healthy thoughts. Discern if the source is internal or external.

Locate: Next, pause, analyze and build awareness. If possible, try to pin point what initially made you feel this way.

Cause and Effect: Ask yourself, "Are these feelings from God or the devil?"

Solution: Renounce any negative feelings you are feeling. Mentally move your thoughts to a state of positivity until your emotions align.

Discovering the root cause: Have you felt this way in the past? Can you date back to when you initially started having these emotions? If you can, you found the source. Reoccurrences of the same emotions are trigger points, but they are not the source.

Trigger points are likened to medicating symptoms of sickness but not the root cause of the sickness. External sources can agitate existing emotional imbalance due to unresolved trauma. Navigate away from external sources that are triggering unhealthy emotions within you.

Once you find the root cause and have successfully healed from traumatic emotional imbalance, defend yourself from any attacks that can cause a relapse of any kind. When the devil knows you are healed, he will send attacks your way to cause you to regress back into a state of emotional imbalance.

Locate: Pin point the adverse source.

Cause and Effect: What attacks are being used? What emotions are you feeling? What thoughts are running through your mind?

Resolve: Become proactive. The Bible says, "Cast down and bring into subjection all thoughts and even emotions that raise an argument refuting the Word of God (2 Corinthians 10: 3-6)." Replace every negative thought or emotion with a positive thought or emotion.

It is important to locate the root cause of emotional imbalance. That is the only way to break free and stay free from adverse trauma. Surrender all your emotional adversity to God and be well.
