Follow Through... FINISH!
No. Change isn't hard, when you're ready to change. If you continue to think that changing is hard and change is difficult, it will be for you. You can't break bad habits with a mindset of defeat.
Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.
-Romans 12:2; Ephesians 4:23
Stop explaining yourself out of changing yourself. Stop people pleasing. My advice to those who are changing their lives and navigating through change is to stay away from criticism, negativity, and those who aren't trying to better themselve or you.
Defeat the deficit of sabotage and self pity. The devil is a liar. Here's great news: You can change!
I, personally, don't like being around negative people. Their goal is to bring you down and make you miserable. That is draining, distracting, and discouraging.π
Detox from negative comments and opinions about changing your life and yourself. It's okay to want to change and to actually do it. Change happens in three stages:
.Steps.
.Strides.
.Leaps.
Change is not a phase. Change is a journey. Improving yourself requires 8 components:
.A renewed mind.
.Prayer.
.Planning.
.Persistence.
.Action.
.Accountability.
.Self-assessment.
.Privacy.
Stop telling everyone your business and plans. Everyone's not against you bettering yourself, but not everyone is for you either. Watch for those who have a habit of changing up on you. Be smart. Be wise with what you share and who you share your thoughts, challenges and plans with.
It takes fortitude to stay focused. It takes fortitude and intentionality to change your mind, life and daily habits. It takes fortitude to follow through thoroughly without deviating from the process or your end goal.
Don't share your plans with people unless they are trustworthy, accountable and helpful. Show people your results more than you elaborate on your plans. People will try to argue with you and keep you from following through with your plans when you disclose too much information. But hey, they can't argue with results and plans accomplished in discretion.
The Bible says, "A wise person remains quiet among fools." Ignorance isn't bliss. Ignorance is foolishness according to the Book of Proverbs.
If I were you, I would just do it. Don't talk about it too much. Don't debate with people. Be quiet, and be proactive.
The only way to defeat the deficit of negativity and reactionary behavior and comments is to be proactive with discretion. Also, advocate for yourself. Be willing to distance yourself from negativity in order to stay positive and proactive.
God wants us to be good stewards of our lives. Are you a good steward? Are you being efficient? Are you putting forth the effort to change your life. Are you meeting your goals?
Are you talking too much? Do your words align with your actions? Planning is only the first step. You have to follow through with your plans.
Your life will reveal if you are or aren't serious. Don't tell me, "Change is hard." Change isn't hard when you're ready to change.
Be disciplined. Be intentional. Be consistent. Be proactive.
Another thing: Practice being quiet. I learned this as a result of announcing changes and my plans prematurely. Announcing your plans prematurely gives your opponents the leverage they need to plan against you.
When people know change is coming, they will resist you. They will make it difficult for you to see those plans through. They will create havoc, disunity, misunderstandings and delays. They will attempt to derail the changes and your plans all together.
Change doesn't need to be announced all the time. Just follow through with your plans. Let the results speak for themselves. Be dedicated and proactive.
